In the midst of religious intolerance and extremism, one religion – the Bahá’í Faith – offers a path toward world peace by advocating the oneness of humanity’s major religions. Now, this groundbreaking documentary tells the amazing, little-known story of the origins of the Bahá’í Faith.
The Gate: Dawn of the Bahá’í Faith recounts the founding of this new world religion in Persia by a Prophet known as The Báb. In the mid-1800s, Jews, Christians, and Muslims alike were awaiting the imminent arrival of a Divine Messenger. Beginning in 1844, the Báb’s message, which included then-controversial ideas like the oneness of major religions and the empowerment of women, spread like wildfire across the region amidst the religious climate.
Combining dramatic reenactments with interviews of renowned historians, religious scholars, and other experts, The Gate celebrates the brief, extraordinary life of the Báb and the indelible impact His message continues to have on the world today.
Directed by Bob Hercules. Run time 61 minutes
Very well done
This film on the life of the Báb is very well done. It reverently does not depict the Báb directly but uses a variety of techniques to make you feel like you are there. Well costumed and beautiful and of course an inspiring topic.
The Gate
A magnificently moving story captured on film and eloquently told in both contemporary words and historical contexts. A dramatic presentation of the zeitgeist of the times when the Great Expectation had captured the minds and hearts of God's servants. Bold stories are woven to tell the story of the renewal of God's religion 'in our time'. Captivating, engaging, and gripping! See it! Explore its themes! Decide for yourselves!
