In Exploring Gleanings author Anthony Joy provides commentary on Gleanings from the Writings of Baha’u’llah His commentary provides relevant content from both the sacred and authoritative text of Baha’u’llah and Abdu’l-Baha and from the writings of other Baha’i scholars. Any study of Gleanings would be enriched by this selection.
Shoghi Effendi, the Guardian of the Baha’i Faith characterized the importance of Gleanings from the Writings of Baha’u’llah in a letter written on his behalf dated January 28, 1936. He stated that Gleanings “should be the continued guide and companion of every believer, especially those who are actively engaged in teaching the Cause.”
Anthony Joy has spent years of research compiling this study with the hope that the vision for the text of Shoghi Effendi might be further realized. This book contains history surrounding the revelation of each section wherever available. More detailed information is provided about each including the language in which it was revealed, the recipient's name, and the title of the source from which it was extracted. In addition the author provides in-depth commentaries on themes of the Gleanings.
