Volume 3 of the Coming of the Glory series, which explores the history, prophets, and prophecies of the Bible. Volume III starts with the factors of various schools of biblical criticism and the development of archaeology in the Holy Land from trying to prove the Bible to searching for evidence of the development of Israelite history. The history of the indigenous Canaanite people is reviewed within the context of the Hebrews’ centuries-long struggle against Canaanite polytheism. Would monolatry or monotheism triumph? The conquest of Jerusalem by the Babylonians and the Exile brought turbulence and deep sorrow to the Israelites. But God had a plan for His people.
The line of prophets continued with Ezekiel, Obadiah, and Second and Third Isaiah. Then the restoration of the Jews to Jerusalem and the rebuilding of the Temple were enabled by King Cyrus the Great. Still the line of prophets continued, the post-Exilic prophets including Joel, Zechariah, Daniel, and Malachi, to guide not only their contemporaries but also us today.
